Trivia: First the Quebec Nordiques of the WHA, they later became the Colorado Avalanche and won their first Cup their first year in Denver. Until the 2009-10 season, the Avalanche have only had one captain, Joe Sakic, who retired prior to the season. The Avalanche have the record of the longest home sell-out streak, with 487 games. There is a notable rivalry between the Avalanche and the Red Wings, which started from a hit from behind on Detroit's Kris Draper by Claude Lemieux in the playoffs in 1996.
